ABSTRACT

This short course is designed to assist scientists, junior and senior in writing successful scientific papers for dedicated journals to build their professional career. The courses will show to the participants how to prepare good papers and how they can be written. It will present advices and comments for overcoming usual and common obstacles such as targeting journals, finding an attractive entry for the manuscript, presenting tables and data, writing a fruitful discussion.

OBJECTIVES

This course was designed with the help of scientists and researchers involved in scientific publishing in environmental and analytical chemistry.

The target audience includes scientific writers from undergraduate/doctorate level up to senior experienced scientists who strive to improve their written communication skills.

No prerequisites for this course.

INSTRUCTOR

Philippe GarriguesDr. Ph. Garrigues is a CNRS Research Director at the University of Bordeaux. His research interests are the analytical aspects related to the detection of organic pollutants and the environmental fate and the toxicological effects of these compounds. He is also Editor in Chief of the journal Environmental Science and Pollution Research (SPRINGERNATURE, IF: 3.00; around 3000 papers published in 2020).

 

He is also teaching in various French/European universities on pollutants in the environment with a specific view on analytical detection and biological effect measurements.

More information :

  • This course will take the form of a discussion around a document presentation, the support of which will be distributed at the end of the session.
    You will have the opportunity to ask questions in English and French.
  • At the end of the course, the trainer will suggest that you go back over the notions that were not clear, while making sure that most of the elements have been acquired. An evaluation of the acquired knowledge will be done collectively at the end of the session
  • A survey will be sent to you by email at the end of the training session, in order to collect your impressions, comments and suggestions for improvement. Your answers will be strictly anonymous.
